Sorry for the negativity, but that's my reaction.
It does look gorgeous, though- Al
Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

The thing with these types of projects (such as Skywind) is that they are more about the players'/modder's interpretations of the game and less about just 'porting the game.'
As I've said before, I've played well over 2 years of Morrowind and still play it a bit here and there to this day. So I'm ok with some interpretation if it fleshes out the game and gives some surprise.
But I totally get why this would turn some off of the project. People who just want Morrowind realized in a new engine.
Still, in the end, it's their project. It's like, when you peruse the mods on the nexus and some person starts complaining that x, y and z is lore breaking or that something shouldn't be the way it is. It's the modder's project and players can download or not.
I might not like some of the mods that others create but it doesn't take anything away to have them exist.
So with something like Skywind, I can understand why someone wouldn't like this but I'm ok with it existing. I'm also ok for another team to do their version of 'skywind' and keep it more in line with Morrowind.
I'll also add that it's possible they couldn't use the original voice acting so they got the woman who is the dark elf voice in Skyrim. - Well said, Sovrath
These folks have done a lot of work and it's looking good. The video just hit me in a strange way- Al

That's kinda the big sticking point. For a public release they cannot use any media from the original game, including audio. They have to re-record it no matter what, so it comes to the choice of do they align it with the standard set by the most recent title in the series, or look for a voice that might match the original source.

They might be able to use it since both are Bethesda's games.

Re-creating Morrowind with Skyrim's engine is a copyright violation unless they've got permission from Bethesda whether they're re-creating assets or just ripping them off the original game. But to me it looks like Bethesda is ok with their actions.
I was wondering about that after my original post. Thanks for that clarification

It's part of the terms with Bethesda for them releasing it publicly that they can't. Part of the reason being, they cannot guarantee the people using the mod will also own the original Morrowind, and that they do not have the legal rights to redistribute Bethesda's assets.
